After growing up in a family-run automobile dealership and working in the industry for over 13 years, I became a stay-at-home mom. I stayed home for about 16 months and realized our family needed a little more income to sustain us.
God then called me to a part-time position as a Church Secretary. It was there that I met Angele Freeman and we eventually became best friends. Angele was diagnosed with a rare cancer and as a cancer survivor myself, I assisted her family with caring for her. She requested many back rubs and told me, "you could make a living doing this."
My dear friend, Angele, was called home on Dec. 13, 2003. Soon after, I enrolled at the Alexandria School of Scientific Therapeutics, where I studied under Ruthann Hobbs.
The school's curriculum consists of 600+ hours of classroom study in anatomy, physiology, nutrition, ethics and physical manipulations. I completed my studies in June of 2005.
I hold a Certificate from the State Board of Massage Therapy through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. I am a Professional Member of the American Massage Therapy Association where I am required to complete 48 hours of Continuing Education every 4 years, which includes a 3-day intensive training Caring for Clients with Cancer: Simple Steps to Safe, Effective Massage Therapy in June of 2010 taught by Tracy Walton, MS, LMT. Most recently I have completed training in Prenatal Massage and I am a Certified Prenatal Massage Therapist.
